Fitted to the Inlet camshaft and a very common noise on the Clio 172 / 182 is a worn Dephaser Pulley.
Worn items make a rattle noise when coming down to idle speed or raising just above idle. Worn items can also cause bad low speed running and performance losses.
Recommended when changing the Timing Belt or camshafts due to saved labour costs.
