Megane 225 / 230 Short Shift Gear Linkage
Gear linkage for shorter sharper gear changes.
Now available for the all models of the Megane 225 /230 including the R26-R.
This linkage replaces a section of the original item to produce a more pleasing shorter up and down shift. The main section is CNC machined from high grade aluminium with a steel ball that fits snugly into your existing cable.
Fitting time is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. A photo guide is provided to aid fitment.
Q) How does it shorten the shift process?
A) The shifter replaces a section of factory gearbox selector which requires less up and down movement at the gear lever to select a gear. (Shorter Shift)
Q) How much is the shift reduced by?
A) For example 3rd to 4th gear, the length of the shift is reduced by approximately 30%.
Q) My gear change is stiff, will this cure the problem.?
A) We see many standard linkages that have dried out or corroded, If that's the case with your. We encourage lubrication of all moving parts whilst fitting the short shifter and this will free up the movement, plus you will have a shorter shift.
Q) Can I fit it myself?
A) We provide a photo fitting guide and would suggest the average person could carry out the operation. It requires the battery and tray to be removed to access the top of the gearbox and then its a case of simply removing the selector unit from the gearbox and swopping out the new section. The section is held in place with a roll pin which requires a hammer and punch to remove it. Failing that if don't wish to have a go local garage should charge out 1 - 1.5 hours labour for fitment, although its best to check with them first.
Q) Will this fit my Laguna 2.0 Turbo?
A) Possibly yes. This short shift link is suitable for all Gearboxes with 'NDO' Prefix.
