This kit replaces both the factory air box and intake pipe to promote more air flow at higher rpm.
The new intake hose is a multi layer strengthened silicone construction with smooth inner and outer surface (unlike the factory item). This smooth inner surface helps to prevent any disruption to air flowing down to the turbo. The hose also retains the fixtures for the factory breather and boost solenoid.
Coupled to the hose is a RAMAIR cone filter. The main feature of this filter is the spun alloy intake trumpet that promotes a venturi effect to increase air flow into the turbocharger. These filters are constructed from a multi layer foam with a stainless gauze support and can be cleaned and re-oiled (Serviced) when required.
We carried out dyno tests on a modified and tuned Megane 3 RS 265 that was using the factory air box and a performance panel filter. After replacing with our kit we made some small improvements through the mid range, but more so in the upper rpm area where almost 10 bhp was gained! (See Pic 2 for Dyno Graph) We were very particular with the controlled tests to make sure air temps and coolant temps etc were closely matched during the dyno pulls to get an accurate insight to improvements made. In fact the ambient temp in the dyno cell was a few degrees higher after the time taken for the base runs and fitment of the kit.
